Description
~~~~~~~~~~~
This project aims at giving a driver for the USB led display Dream
Cheeky. Thanks to this driver, you can easily write text on the display, and
apply special effects to it. You can activate a horizontal/vertical move (in
two directions), specify a 16 levels of speed, make the text flashing, negate
the LED, set the brighness... etc ! A helper programm is given to your
convenience: cheeky_control.

The driver creates a char device /dev/cheeky%d for each device plugged, and you
can change the text printed on the screen very fast by writing something to
this device, the text on the display will be changed immediatly. To be able to
use special effects, read the documentation in doc/ or simply use the helper
programm.

The driver also give the ability to send usb packets directly to the device as
to not restrict only ascii text to be written to the device.

This is my first driver so it's certainly not perfect, feel free to improve it,

Usage
~~~~~
After installing the driver (see INSTALL), you should check that your user is a
member of the group 'cheeky'. After this check, you should be able to use the
programm cheeky_control to control the output on the display.
Here is an example of using this programm:
  $ cheeky_control -t "Chiche donne nous tout !" --horizontal_move LED_RIGHT_TO_LEFT -f LED_NO_FLASH -s 15

The command above change the text to "Chiche donne nous tout !", and makes it
moving from right to left, and desactivate the flashing if it was activated.
For a complete list of all options just run:

  $ cheeky_control --help

You can control almost everything with cheeky_control. I said "almost" because the
driver is also capable of receiving directly the usb packet to send to the
device. For doing so, you have to write a programm that open the char device,
(should be /dev/cheeky0 for the first led message board plugged to the pc) and
control it with ioctl. The cmd argument should be IOCTL_CMD_CUSTOM (as defined
in include/cheeky_driver.h) and arg a pointer to a 32 bytes memory area containing
the 4 usb packet that need to be sent to the usb device.

Documentation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The source code is fully documented, you may read the source files directly, or
generate a doxygen documentation in html using the command:
  $ make doc
You must have the programm doxygen to generate the documentation, and then
just open the file named index.html in the directory doc/html/.

Misc
~~~~
  The ascii font used in INSTALL and README files is "graffiti" ans has been
generated with the online ascii generator present at
http://www.network-science.de/ascii/
