BUILD

Run make from here, as root: it'll build a linuxrc and a monoboot
binary, then make an initrd and a minimal testing rootfs, then a
monoimage. Expects to find a vmlinuz here.

INSTALL

This partition scheme works, others may also work: three partitions,
"root", "config" and "images", typically hda1/2/3.

Create hda1 of say 32M, hda2 of 8M, and hda3 as the rest of the
disk. Format all as ext3. Populate hda1 with this:

XXX flag buildroot from busybox CVS

XXX root file list

/lib/libc.so.6
/lib/libdl.so.2
/lib/libncurses.so.5
/lib/ld-linux.so.2
/lib/libconfuse.so.0
/lib/libreadline.so.4
/lib/libdevmapper.so.1.00
/lib/libresolv.so.2
/bin/ip
/bin/mount
/config/
/sbin/monoboot
/sbin/init // actually bash
/sbin/lilo
/sbin/lilo.real
/sbin/mbsh
/boot/sarge.bmp
/boot/map
/boot/boot.0340
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8.1-kexec
/etc/lilo.conf
/etc/fstab
/usr/sbin/kexec // kexec from monoimage dist.
/proc/

create a /dev, copy in MAKEDEV and run MAKEDEV for std, console and
hda. The kernel shouldn't require an initrd, and should include the
kexec patch.

chroot into that and run lilo, setting the 'boot' parameter in
lilo.conf appropriately. Edit the fstab to match your actual partition
layout. You should be able to boot into that and run things.

Put the example mb.conf in hda2's fs, mounted on /config. Put an
image file in hda3's fs, mounted on /images - call it image1.mi if you
don't want to bother changing mb.conf.

Boot into hda1's root, type monoboot, and you should be fired into the
image.
