This is the Geomview 2.0 source tree.  The program is not generally
useful yet and is completely undocumented.  It has not been released
yet, not even an alpha version.  This source tree is intended for
developers only.  If you have questions or comments about it, send
them to me at mbp@geomtech.com.

NOTE to CVS users: some of the *.cpp files in the source tree are
derived from other source files using SWIG and re2c (see below).
These files are not included in the CVS repository, so you'll need
these tools to do a complete build from the CVS sources.  If you don't
have these tools on your system you can download a copy of the source
tree that already has these derived files in it from
ftp://ftp.sourceforge.net:/pub/sourceforge/geomview (look for a file
named gv2NNN.tar.gz where NNN is a version number).

There are several prerequistes that you need on your system in order
to be able to run Geomview 2.0:

	* Python 2.0	(www.python.org)
			[I have not tried it with earlier versions
			of Python]
	* wxPython	(www.wxpython.org)
			[wxPython in turn as some prerequisites that
			 you might need to install, such as wxGTK.  Follow
			 the instructions at www.wxpython.org.]
	* OpenGL

To compile Geomview 2.0, you'll need a C++ compiler.  If you want to
edit the *.i files that define the C++ interface to python, you'll
also need

	* SWIG		(www.swig.org)

If you want to edit Common/Io/IoOoglLexer.re (the source from
which IoOoglLexer.cpp is created), you'll need:

	* re2c		(http://www.tildeslash.org/re2c/index.html or
			 http://24.112.22.80/re2c/index.html, if
			 www.tildeslash.org lookups fail)


To compile on unix:
	% ./configure
	% make

To run on unix:
	% cd Py
	% python gv2.py
   or	% ./gv2
	  (after editing Py/gv2 to change the first line to correctly
	   mention the path to your python2 interpreter)

To compile on Windows:
	* You'll need Microsoft Visual C++ (I use verson 6.0).  It's
	  probably possible to compile with other compilers, but I
	  haven't tried.  If you succeed in doing this please let me know.
	* Open gv2.dsw and compile the "Common" project; don't compile
	  the other projects in the workspace.
	* Open a DOS Command window and run the 'vcvars32.bat' script
	  that's part of MSVC++; the script "Py/setenv.bat" does that
	  on my system.  If you installed MSVC++ in the standard place
	  that script might work for you too.
	* (In the 'Py' directory) run "nmake -f nmakefile".

To run on Windows:
	* double-click on the "gv2.py" icon
     or * in a DOS Command window, run "C:\python20\python gv2.py",
	  assuming your copy of Python2.0 is installed in C:\python20.
