This is mostly the original auryn package. For informations see Auryn.
I added a new connection type, the GeoConnection, wich is a simpel model of the visual cortex. It connects neurons depending on their position, their distance to each other depending and their orientation. If you speak german please see documentation_de.pdf for a detailed explanation. Maybe there will be an english version soon.
The basic priciple is:
- most connections are local
- smaler distances means higher probability for a connection
- similar orientation means higher probability for a connection
p(i,j) = exp(-((xi-xj)^2 + (yi-yj)^2)/sigma) or p(orientation) if similar.
This image demonstrates connections of only one from 5110 neurons in an 64 times 64 grating with four pinwheel structures.
I hope I can give further documentation soon. All new functions have been tested.

Auryn is a source package used to create highly specialized and optimized code to simulate recurrent spiking neural networks with spike timing dependent plasticity (STDP). It comes with the GPLv3 (please see COPYING).
To download and compile the examples try:
sudo apt-get install cmake git build-essential libboost-all-dev
git clone https://github.com/fzenke/auryn.git && cd auryn
git checkout -b develop origin/develop
mkdir build && cd build
cmake ../ -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release && make

Auryn needs the boost libraries (www.boost.org) with MPI support installed in development versions to compile.
