high level structures for c programming objective: platform independent algorithms library for productive, 32-bit architectures or higher design/usability notes - any memory allocation error will be considered a fatal error and will terminate application with exit(1), this is the reason many functions returns nothing (void), so you don't need to worry about messy consequences of resources exhaustion and painful dealing of it - use of unsigned integers are avoided, unless when dealing with bit wise data, on modern architectures, with two's complement representation, no cycle cost is added to basic arithmetic and flow control (add, sub, jump, mul) - implicity conversion between signed and unsigned types is avoided at all cost - explicity casting between pointers are avoided at all cost - memory allocation functions are not thread-safe, all other data structures are reentrant api instructions - unless explicitly stated, all structure members are read-only - fixed-size structures returns a boolean on allocation
