Maya2OSG - A toolkit for exporting Maya scenes to OpenSceneGraph Version 0.4.2c-SVN Copyright (C) 2010 Javier Taibo <javier.taibo@gmail.com> This release is composed of a Maya plug-in (maya2osg.mll or maya2osg.so) that provides two commands: maya2osg - to export Maya scenes to any OpenSceneGraph supported file format. osg2maya - to import OpenSceneGraph files into Maya Website: http://maya2osg.sourceforge.net/ Wiki: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/maya2osg/ Prerequisites: Maya SDK OpenSceneGraph This software has been tested on the following versions, although not all of these project files are currently included or maintained: Maya 6.0 Maya 7.0 Maya 8.5 Maya 2008 Maya 2009 Maya 2010 Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Linux Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition OpenSceneGraph 2.6.x OpenSceneGraph 2.8.x OpenSceneGraph 2.9.x Compilation instructions ======================== Linux ----- Select the Maya version you intend to compile the plug-in for and change to this directory. Change to Linux directory and execute the GNU Makefile. The maya2osg.so file will be created in the bin directory inside the maya version directory. If you want to install the plug-in in default directory, execute "make install" with the adequate permissions (executing it as root will do). Windows (Microsoft Visual Studio) --------------------------------- Select the Maya version you intend to compile the plug-in for and change to this directory. Use the solution in the Visual Studio folder for your version. If the exact version is not available, you can convert a previous one (it should be fairly easy). If you have created and tested a new version and want to contribute them to the project, it will be welcome. Add to "Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > VC++ Directories" the bin, include and lib directories of the installed Maya SDK and OSG libraries. Installation ============ Under Linux, just do a "make install" as root (or the adequate user to write under MAYA_DIR/bin/plug-ins). Current Visual Studio project try to install the plug-in (maya2osg.mll) in the plug-ins directory of Maya 2010 in its default location. However, it can fail because of file permissions, so check it. This issue will be fixed in the future. For more detailed information on the installation of the plug-in in Maya, check the documentation in the wiki: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/maya2osg/index.php?title=Installation_instructions Contents ======== README This File COPYING GNU GPL v3 License AUTHORS Authors and contributors of the project HISTORY Changelog of the project up to this release VERSION Current release version number src Source code doc Documentation tests Test scenes/models maya2009 Stuff needed for compiling and installing in Maya 2009 maya2010 Stuff needed for compiling and installing in Maya 2010 maya2011 Stuff needed for compiling and installing in Maya 2011 prefs Maya preferences (shelf and icons) scripts Maya MEL scripts misc Files that do not fall into any of the previous categories
