sudo apt-get install git

# get the code from the repository
git clone git@github.com:jaredhoberock/gotham.git gotham

# set the environment variable GOTHAMHOME to point to the gotham directory
# for example, on my machine it is /home/jared/dev/git/gotham
# you may want to put this in your .bashrc or similar script
export GOTHAMHOME=<absolute root here>/gotham

# update PATH to point to gotham's bin directory
export PATH=$PATH:$GOTHAMHOME/bin

# install scons, our build system
sudo apt-get install scons

# install g++, our default compiler
sudo apt-get install g++

# dependencies:
# install boost version >= 1.35
sudo apt-get install libboost-dev

# install python2.7
sudo apt-get install python2.7

# install glut
sudo apt-get install freeglut3-dev

# install glew for OpenGL extensions
sudo apt-get install libglew1.5-dev

# install openexr for .exr images
sudo apt-get install libopenexr-dev

# install libjpeg for .jpeg images
sudo apt-get install libjpeg-dev

# install libpng for .png images
sudo apt-get install libpng-dev

# build gotham
cd $GOTHAMHOME
scons

# build gotham shaders
cd $GOTHAMHOME/shaders
scons

# render a simple scene
# press 'r' to start the render
cd $GOTHAMHOME/scenes
./cornellbox.goth
